Accounts and eligibility

You must be at least 13 to create an online account, with a parent or guardian's permission if you are not yet a legal adult. Purchases must be handled by an adult authorized to use the payment method. Any higher age or consent requirements that apply where you live still apply. The service does not currently offer accounts for children under 13.

Use an email address you control, complete email confirmation when requested, and keep your password and recovery links private. Use password recovery for an existing account rather than creating another account to recover purchases. Contact us promptly if you believe someone has used your account without permission. Our Privacy notice explains account, purchase and browser-local data handling.

What a purchase includes

Each listing identifies its format, species or pages, included files, price and any included online features. A ten-species pack and a complete collection remain separate books even when they overlap. Your combined study selection can include species from several eligible purchases; shared species count once. A purchase does not unlock the entire catalog or unrelated future products.

Digital products are downloads, not physical items, unless a listing explicitly says otherwise. You need a suitable device/PDF reader and, for paper use, a printer or printing service. Screen colors and printed results can differ. Save a backup of your purchased files. Future coloring, card, practice, puzzle, poster or sticker formats marked “Coming soon” are not included or available to buy merely because they appear in the shop.

Prices and applicable charges are shown before payment. Current digital checkout is a one-time purchase, not a recurring subscription. A clearly marked simulated checkout is a test and does not charge real money; a purchase made on Etsy is subject to the actual price and charges shown by Etsy.

Buying directly from the website

Where available, Stripe processes checkout. After verified payment, the purchased product and included online content are associated with the Lines & Matter account used for checkout. No Etsy order number or separate activation purchase is required. Check that you are signed in to the intended account before paying.

Adding an Etsy purchase

For an eligible Etsy product, sign in to your Lines & Matter account and enter the Etsy order number from your receipt. We verify the purchase before adding its included content. The QR code or Start Here link opens this flow; the link alone is not proof of purchase. No Etsy password is required.

An eligible order is connected to the account that first successfully claims it. Re-entering that order does not transfer it to another account or create an extra license. Keep the number private, claim only purchases you are authorized to use, and contact us if you claimed an order in the wrong account. Etsy's marketplace/payment terms also apply to purchases made there.

Online features and availability

Online features expressly included with your purchase are provided at no additional charge for that purchase. A free account alone does not unlock paid packs. Private downloads require sign-in; download links expire and can be requested again from your library while access remains active.

Features may need maintenance, and uninterrupted availability is not guaranteed. We may correct errors and improve the service, but do not promise every future feature or indefinite availability of every online feature. Changes remain subject to the description and legal rights attached to your purchase; this is not permission to remove paid benefits arbitrarily. We will communicate material changes affecting purchased access as appropriate or required.

Using artwork and downloads

Unless the product's supplied license expressly grants broader permission, downloads are for your personal, noncommercial use. You may save and print them for that permitted use. Buying a file does not transfer ownership of the collection or grant permission to resell, publicly upload, redistribute the digital files or uncolored pages, share paid-access credentials, or make merchandise from the supplied artwork.

Contact us before using files for a classroom, organization, commercial project or redistribution if the listing does not already authorize that use. These restrictions do not limit uses permitted by law or rights granted under a separate applicable license.

Third-party photographs retain their credited licenses, which govern their reuse separately from our product license. Follow the source, attribution and license links. Artwork created with AI assistance is selected and curated as a creative interpretation; it is not a guarantee of biological accuracy or an assertion of exclusive rights in material we do not own.

Download problems, refunds and cancellations

If a file will not download, appears corrupt, does not match what you purchased, or a payment appears duplicated, contact us with the product name, purchase channel and a description of the issue. Do not send full card details, passwords or private download links. We will review the problem and the available remedy, including a corrected download or a refund where appropriate or required.

For purchases made directly on this website, you may request a full refund within 14 days of purchase by contacting the support email above. This 14-day window does not limit your mandatory legal rights. If a file is faulty or does not match its description, contact us even after 14 days so we can review the appropriate remedy.

For Etsy orders, use Etsy's order-help process and review the listing's purchase policies; the direct-site refund promise above does not replace Etsy's order-help process or the policies supplied with that order. We do not claim that all digital purchases are automatically non-refundable or that using a download automatically waives a legal cancellation right.

Refunded, reversed, fraudulent or otherwise invalid purchases may lose the access associated with that purchase. If another valid purchase independently includes the same content, that separate purchase must be considered. Contact us to review an access mistake. This paragraph describes the access rule, not a guarantee that every refund is processed automatically.

Practice progress and saved species

Current notebook records, saved rounds and saved-species preferences are browser-local where those features are available; they are not guaranteed to sync between devices or accounts. Clearing site data or using another browser can remove or separate this history. Signing out does not clear local practice data. Favorites and study selections are preferences, not purchase rights. Game scores are informal learning feedback, not a qualification, scientific identification certificate or public ranking. Daily-game availability and species pools depend on the active version; a date label alone does not promise new species each day.

Education and art, not safety advice

Lines & Matter curates information and artwork for general education and artistic enjoyment. The website does not provide professional wildlife, identification, foraging, medical, veterinary or safety advice. Do not rely on any text, image, species name, color or label here to identify an organism or decide whether it is safe to approach, touch, handle, collect, eat or use medicinally.

Poison, venom and edibility information may be incomplete. An absent warning or a label such as “nonvenomous” does not establish safety. Similar-looking species can have very different risks. Creative illustrations and reference photographs do not verify the identity of a specimen you encounter.

For real-world identification or safety decisions, seek a suitably qualified local professional. For suspected poisoning or exposure, contact your local poison center or emergency service promptly; do not wait for a response from this website.

Responsible use and service protection

Do not attempt to claim someone else's order, bypass access controls, guess private links or credentials, distribute malicious code, or disrupt the service. We may limit or suspend access as reasonably needed to address misuse, security incidents, invalid purchases or legal requirements. Where appropriate, we will explain the issue and how to contact us for review; urgent security action may occur first.

You may stop using the site at any time and request account closure as described in the Privacy notice. Closing an account can affect online access and does not itself constitute a refund request or erase records that must be retained.

Accuracy, outside services and legal rights

We aim to provide useful, source-linked information, but content may contain errors, omissions, outdated names or incomplete accounts. We do not warrant that it is complete, current or suitable for a particular safety or professional purpose. Report a correction through Feedback, ideally with the collection, species and a reliable reference.

Independent reference sites, Etsy and payment services have their own terms and may change. A link does not imply their endorsement of Lines & Matter. You remain responsible for your conduct involving wildlife and other organisms.

To the extent permitted by applicable law, the educational content is provided without a warranty of fitness for a particular purpose, and Lines & Matter and its creator disclaim liability arising from reliance on it for real-world identification, foraging, handling or other safety decisions. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, excuses our own legal obligations, or restricts non-waivable consumer rights.

These terms do not require arbitration or waive class-action rights. If a provision cannot lawfully apply, the remaining provisions continue to the extent permitted by law. We may update these terms with a new date and appropriate notice of material changes; changes do not retroactively remove mandatory rights or expressly purchased benefits.
