References & curation

Our field guides pair creative observation with source-linked natural history notes. Each species panel links to the account used for its facts. The links below support the broader collection notes. This is an editorial first pass, not expert taxonomic verification.

How we curate

The introductory species accounts currently use linked Wikipedia articles and their references, with specialist sources for some exceptions. We favor museums, research institutions, and specialist references for deeper verification. Facts are paraphrased; photographs retain their own licenses and credits. The current notes were checked on September 12, 2026.

Drawing indexes come from our saved book records. All twelve collections now have introductory, source-linked accounts. Snakes includes more detailed range, habitat, size, and diet notes; other collections begin with concise facts and will be expanded. Some book labels describe groups or use older names. Common-name-only records are marked; their photos are reference examples, not verified identifications of the drawings. Unresolved names remain flagged. We do not infer biological facts from generated artwork.
